Hi everyone! Can you believe we have one more week before the final reveal of our One Room Challenge? If you read my Makeover Madness Blog Hop on Tuesday, you saw this picture of our guest room. It’s come a long way from Week One right?
If you’re new to the blog, here are the links to Week Two, Three, and Four.
It’s amazing what a little paint can do! I was sent Velvet Finishes to give my old furniture a makeover and now it looks completely different. You can update a room with a small budget just by using paint.
This week, I also updated this black mirror with some paint. We’ve had this for over 13 years and it didn’t really fit in anywhere in the house so it was stored in the guest room along with the rest of the hodge podge furniture.
I gave it one coat of the Opulent (light gray) Velvet Finishes paint and then another coat of white chalk paint I had on hand. I finished it by distressing it with some gold rub-n-buff. I used the same method for the vintage table but left out the gold distressing.
I think Emmy approves!! I love the result and it’s now perfect for this room right above the desk I transformed last week. The gold really added some character and vintage charm. Here’s another example of what rub-n-buff does.
Those are the handles for the vintage desk. The new gold handles against the grayish/white desk look so fresh and chic!
Jimmy also helped me install the large acrylic frame from my sponsor, Highland Hardware. They were generous enough to send me the largest sized frame, 30X30 and I’m in love with the brass bolts along the corners. It’s modern, clean and really makes your art work pop. Next week, I’ll share the artwork I displayed in there for the final reveal. (You have to peel the sticker off the acrylic as it’s a clear frame)
I’m so happy with how this room is looking especially now that the furniture is all painted along with the lamps. It’s truly come a long way!
My sweet sister-in-law, Linda wanted to sponsor me for this challenge as a way of saying thanks for helping her decorate her new home. She generously provided the beautiful white bedding and pillows from Homegoods, chenille throw from Costco, Ikea pillows, and gold mirrors from Homegoods (not shown). Thank you, Linda!
I can’t wait to show you the final reveal next week. Last night, Jimmy installed the beautiful chandelier from Lighting Design and it’s a show stopper. Thanks you so much for following along and a huge thanks goes out to my sponsors for helping me with this complete room makeover.
Be sure to check out all of the other bloggers’ progress for the ORC here. Have a wonderful day!
*EDIT: Here are weeks One, Two, Three, Four, Five and the Final Reveal.
